Chikurinji Temple
Located between Makino Botanic Garden and Godaisan Park, this Buddhist temple is worthy of a visit in its own right. Boasting an incredible 5-story pagoda and peaceful, moss-covered grounds, and chanting monks, it's a great experience.
Ushioe Tenmangu
Shintoism worships nature, such as gods of the water or forest. This impressive Shinto shrine is hidden within the city of Kochi but a very easy walk from the popular shopping district. Purchase a small plaque to record a wish and leave this small piece of you behind to manifest.
Kurehachimangu
Caked in moss, this Shinto shrine, with a history dating back to the 15th C., has clearly been 'sleeping' here a very long time. Visit at the right time of year, and you'll catch the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean between the torii gate entrance for the perfect photo. Purchase a small fortune paper or simply take a deep breath and say a small prayer at this hidden gem.
